Newegg plays chicken with New York 'Amazon Tax'
Cade Metz reports on the uproar amongst etailers over New York's requirement that they collect sales tax if they have any affiliate partner's within the state. New York is claiming such create a "physical presence" within the state. Newegg, Amazon, and Overstock are all fighting the new law.

This law is ridiculous - and if the etailers didn't revolt you can be sure all other states would quickly follow suit. What is needed is a revamp of sales tax law for a digital age. Make up your mind states - but give us a break - find a way to work together to offer a streamlined tax system that won't put an onerous burden on online retailers.
This is ridiculous, but its NYS, so I'm not surprised.
