Interview with a Five Million Dollar Blogger
My good friend Yaro Starak has posted an interview with one of his Blog Mastermind students.
Alborz Fallah is a previous student of Yaro and owns the blog CarAdvice.com.au, a blog that was recently valued at $5 MILLION dollars. Alborz’s story is fantastic and it shows you can start a blog from nothing, focus on a passion and turn it into a multi-million dollar business. In the interview Alborz and Yaro talk about how he grew his blog, how he brought on board financial backers and grew his income to 7-figures.
His blog gets phenomenal traffic, brings in hundreds of thousands of dollars in advertising revenue each year and Alborz has traveled to Europe to drive some of the most prestigious sports cars ever created. His blog became a true business and Alborz has to be one of the luckiest people in the world, living out a passion every single day and earning big money along the way.
What’s really great about this story though, is that Alborz started out just like you and me. He wasn’t sure what topic to write about, so he created three blogs at once to see which one would stick. The car blog got the traffic so he dropped the other two and slowly built up his site off the back of his own content.

Reply to this commentAbsolutely. Blogging can mean big bucks, but you need original content and good design. Without those two things, you will not get any repeat traffic which is key to monetizing your blog.

Reply to this commentSo after reading that interview I’m not sure what was most important to Al’s success. Was it content, seo mangagement or networking. It sounds like it was a perfect storm of all of them. Writing at least 2 posts per day, knowing former ‘Drive’ executives and ranking #1 on Google very early on. sounds like a combo for success to me…

I speak to Alborz often and every month or so he has something even more exciting to tell me regarding his blog.
It’s amazing what can happen when you get real momentum behind a business. In this case the business is a BLOG, which I think makes the story even better since it feels more accessible to people who understand blogging or are prepared to learn.
Reply to this commentI believe the valuation. My ATV site mirrors the success path of autoadvice though it’s much newer, I hope to reach the same levels in about 18 months. A motorcycle site, thekneeslider, is doing equaly well with motorcycles. Blogs and sites dedicated to non “make money online” subjects earn much more money imo… if the author is truly a fanatic of the subject.

Reply to this commentI didn’t want to start another blog where I blog for a few months then do nothing. I started about 13 blogs in 2006, then it just fizzled out. But now, with Yaro’s post about Alborz, I feel a bit more motivated this time. I’m going to start with blogger, then work my way up to Wordpress. My new blog is here

Reply to this commentBlogging takes a lot of hard work and ten even more work. Unless you are absolutely passionately about your subject and you can provide new insights to your subscribers, you won’t succeed. Another thing that really makes me mad is when people try to construct sites/blogs around keywords without knowing anything about the subject matter.
Reply to this commentJust look at John chow’s income - he posts several articles per day every day for several years. How many bloggers do you know that post that much? He didn’t start monetizing this blog until he had been blogging here for an year or so..
As for blog valuation, I would say 1-2 times annual revenues should be a good valuation in my opinion.
