This is why we need something similar to Cleversafe that can utilize multiple storage grids such as Nirvanix and Amazon. Its also why SmugMug is smart for using local caching rather than depending solely upon a cloud based solution.

Shouldn't Amazon already have multiple fail-safe devices? I think in this day having any outage of internet services for a large company is highly embarrassing.

I agree, and this isn't the first outage Amazon has suffered either. But with out-sourcing I don't think I'd ever rely fully on a single hosted solution. Using multiple serves as a failsafe mechanism for the inevitable day when a companies' servers do fail.
