Google wins in blind search test.
Google ran a blind search engine test in which 2,000+ participants viewed the results from three engines without any branding and then voted on the best results. Google came out first, but surprisingly it was Microsoft not Yahoo in second.

I wonder how recent this is. About a month ago supposedly Microsoft have a massive overhaul of their search engine algorithms.
The thing that bothers me the most though is how much space is wasted on search engines. I ran a search on Google and then one on MS Live and Google displayed 9 results and MS Live displayed 7. It may not seem like much, but seeing those two extra results is very pleasing to my eyes.
I've tried Microsoft since the major algorithm update and still am not pleased with their results. Not that they may not be equivalent to Google's, but in general I think the future is in social search (e.g. human tagging combined with algorithms).
