Ahhh, now it all makes sense. The hardware of the ULCPC's can't support Vista, but Microsoft needs to ensure competition against Linux in the ULCPC market, so they are allowing XP to be utilized.

Mac OS wouldn't work on them either.
Note as well that it is just Windows XP HOME that is being extended. Not Professional.
