College bookstores turn to kiosks to stem e-textbook tideOpen in New Window
This week, the National Association of College Stores announced a new initiative that that will see digital vending kiosks tested at a number of major college campuses. The college bookstore trade group will form a distinct subsidiary to manage this digital venture, which will initially focus on burning movie DVDs on-demand for students. But some reports are suggesting that this may represent an attempt to keep the bookstore relevant as classroom material migrates to digital media as on-campus outlets have to compete with sources such as the Kindle store and web-based publishers. read more »
